Are you ready to take a deeper dive into herbalism? Want to learn practical ways to care for yourself and your dear ones?  Wanna geek out about medicinal plants with a neurodivergent herb nerd and create traditions that support seasonal transitions throughout the wheel of the year? Registration for our 2026/2027 cohort is officially open, so start saving those empty jars now because class starts this spring!

Weaving the medicinal with the magical, this year long class focuses on cultivating personal relationships with the plants while tuning into the natural rhythm of the seasons and spaces in between. During our time together we'll build a solid foundation in herbalism rooted in generative & integrative care practices through full sensory hands-on learning, story telling, skill sharing, lecture, embodied experience, time in the garden, herbcrafting and ritual.

As the wheel of the year turns, we will have the opportunity to prepare, cultivate and tend our symbolic inner gardens as we physically work with medicinal plants in the herb garden and in the apothecary. Participants will come away from this program with an abundance of herbal wisdom, practical skills and plants willing- a deeply rooted sense of interconnectedness. This foundational class includes 70+ hours of in person herbal education on the following topics:

  • herbal medicine making: infusions, decoctions, tinctures, glycerites, syrups, oxymels, poultices, infused oils, salves & more!
  • herbal actions
  • solubility, extraction methods
  • medicinal plant identification
  • ethical foraging practices
  • sustainable herb growing
  • make custom blends of seasonally supportive herbs
  • cultivate a deeper connection to your roots through exploring culturally traditional ancestral herbs
  • practical herbal supports for self care & community nourishment

April 12, May 24, June 14, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 18, November 8, December 6, January 17, February 7 & March 14, 2027

Time commitment: In addition to our monthly class, participants will be given some fun herbal assignments to engage with throughout the month, estimating approx 10-15 hours a month including class + home studies.

The cost of the full program including manual and materials is $1600. Payment plans are available!

A sliding scale of $1,200 - $1,600 is offered to BIPOC, trans & disabled folks as needed. Alternatively, if you are someone with an abundance of finances and would like to contribute to a scholarship fund, please feel free to reach out.

The perks: all current participants in this program will receive a 15% off discount on bulk herbs throughout the year! Sign up with a friend and you'll both receive a $50 credit to the shop to begin building your home apothecary or library of herbal books. Students will also get first dibs on surplus fresh herbs from our gardens along with opportunities for additional hands on learning/practice outside of class time as desired.

This year I'm happy to share that we will have a couple partial work/trade opportunities. If you would like to inquire about the details, please check the box below and we can chat more.

Hosted by: Reede Haroian LaRose (they/them) is a disabled nonbinary/queer parent, community herbalist, careworker, lifelong witch and shopkeeper of the apothecary. They weave over a decade of experience as a LGBTQ+ centered full spectrum doula, pelvic health therapist and former somatic bodyworker into their herbal support practice. Reede is a big fan of integrative care, mutual aid, being both a student & an educator, getting to know their neighbors and meeting people where they're at. You'll often find Reede pining over their cats Ella + Anoush, loving on the herb garden, nerding out nueruodivergent style and talking about Armenia.

Accessibility: The entrance to the store is on street level and there are no steps involved. We have a teeny tiny bathroom that is not wheelchair accessible. There are however, ADA toilets in the building across from us that we have open use of. This is a space designed by an autistic and does not use florescent overhead lights. Reede navigates histamine and mast cell issues, so we kindly ask that you arrive fragrance free. With consideration of covid, we have an air purifier that will be running throughout the class while indoors, along with fresh air ventilation as weather permits. Masks are optional, and we ask that you stay home if you are experiencing cold/flu symptoms. Please call or stop by the shop with any other questions, we're happy to chat!
